MRT Phase 2A Project Still Ongoing, This is Traffic Engineering in Harmoni-Mangga Besar until August

JAKARTA - PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) continues to implement traffic engineering management on a number of roads in the Harmoni, Sawah Besar, and Mangga Besar areas this year, starting from January 1 to August 31. This policy is carried out in conjunction with the continued construction of the MRT Jakarta Phase 2A CP 202 Project.

Corporate Secretary Division Head of PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) Rendy Primartantyo said, the CP 202 work package includes the construction of three underground stations, namely Harmoni Station, Sawah Besar, and Mangga Besar, as well as tunnel construction from Harmoni to Mangga Besar.

"The MRT Jakarta Phase 2A CP202 project is one of the MRT Jakarta construction work segments which includes the construction of Harmoni, Sawah Besar and Mangga Besar underground stations, as well as tunnel construction from Harmoni to Mangga Besar," said Rendy in his statement, Wednesday, January 7.

Rendy explained that traffic engineering had been prepared with the contractor and coordinated with the DKI Jakarta Provincial Transportation Office and the Polda Metro Jaya Traffic Police.

In the Harmoni Station area, traffic engineering will take place from January 1 to April 30, 2026. The work carried out includes excavation, station work, underpass channel, and entrance.

To support this work, traffic on Hayam Wuruk Street will be shifted to the side of the road from the BPKP Building to the Sandjaja Building. However, the vehicle lane to Monas is still maintained as three lanes.

Meanwhile, traffic arrangements at Sawah Besar Station are carried out gradually. From January 1 to February 28, 2026, the traffic flow of Hayam Wuruk Street towards the City will be diverted to the canal side from Alfamart to Clover Bakery, then back to the middle side.

Entering the period from March 1-17, 2026, the traffic flow of Hayam Wuruk Street towards Monas will be diverted to the middle of the Clover Bakery Building and back to the side of the building before Jalan Sukarjo Wiryopranoto. In addition, the traffic of Jalan Gajah Mada towards the City is diverted to the side of the canal in front of the CIMB Niaga Building until before Gajah Mada Plaza.

The re-arrangement will change from March 18 to June 30, 2026. During this period, the flow of Hayam Wuruk Street towards Monas is diverted to the middle of the Ibis Hotel and back to the side of the building after McDonald's. The flow of Jalan Gajah Mada towards the City is diverted to the side of the canal from the front of the CIMB Niaga Building to Jalan Zainul Arifin.

In the final phase, namely from July 1 to August 31, 2026, the traffic flow of Hayam Wuruk Street both towards Monas and the City will be returned to the middle side. Meanwhile, the traffic flow of Gajah Mada Street towards the City will be diverted to the middle side in front of the CIMB Niaga Building.

At Mangga Besar Station, the first phase of traffic engineering took place from January 1 to April 30, 2026. During this period, one lane of Hayam Wuruk Street in the direction of Monas was placed on the side of the canal and returned to the side of the building after the BRI Building.

Furthermore, from May 1 to August 31, 2026, one lane of Hayam Wuruk Street towards Monas will remain on the canal side and will be diverted to the building side after the Olimo shop.

MRT Jakarta is aware that this work has the potential to cause inconvenience to the public. However, this step is considered necessary for the smooth development of mass transportation infrastructure.

"PT MRT Jakarta (Perseroda) apologizes for the inconvenience during this work. We hope for understanding and cooperation from the community to continue to support the implementation of this project," said Rendy.

The public and public transportation users are urged to always pay attention to traffic signs and follow the instructions of officers in the field during the traffic engineering period.
