Limited Stock, Meta Delays Global Launch of Ray-Ban Display Glasses

JAKARTA - Meta has delayed the launch of the Ray-Ban Display smart glasses to more countries. This delay was made due to the high demand for the glasses, but the available stock could not meet the orders.

After releasing Ray-Ban Display in September last year, Meta plans to expand globally in early 2026. The company is targeting expansion into a number of major countries, including the UK, France, Italy, and Canada.

Unfortunately, the current available stock is not comparable to the incoming demand. Therefore, Meta decided to focus on sales in the US first. It is not yet certain when this global expansion plan will continue.

"We will continue to focus on fulfilling orders in the US while we reevaluate our approach to international (device) availability," Meta wrote in a blog post, quoted on Wednesday, January 7.

It's worth noting that people in the US are also having trouble getting their hands on the Ray-Ban Display. The device isn't sold online and is only available in physical retail stores. Availability is also limited as consumers can only get the device through a reservation system.

To make a demonstration appointment, prospective buyers must first order their session at retail stores such as Ray-Ban, Sunglass Hut, LensCrafter, and Best Buy through the Meta website. To date, demonstration sessions have reportedly always been full and have been booked out for several weeks.

Ray-Ban Display is Meta's first smart glasses that use a heads-up display. This technology allows users to see a transparent screen in front of them. The screen will display various important information so that users don't have to open their phones.

In addition, this device is also equipped with six microphones, cameras, stereo speakers, and WiFi 6 connectivity. Users also get a Neural Band controller that is capable of accurately tracking finger movements.
