DKI Provincial Government Assures Not to Close Rasuna Said Road During the Demolition of the Monorelf Pole

JAKARTA - Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Service Syafrin Liputo ensures that the implementation of the demolition of the old monorail project pillar that is stuck on Jalan HR Rasuna Said will not have an impact on road closures.

Syafrin said that the demolition work by the DKI Jakarta Road Construction Agency on the east side of Jalan Rasuna Said only used the slow lane median.

"We will do a kind of traffic diversion. There are two lanes, there is a slow lane, there is a fast lane. So when the heavy equipment enters, it will be on the side of the slow lane. Meanwhile, the fast lane is still functioning," said Syafrin at the DKI Jakarta City Hall, Wednesday, January 7.

This work, continued Syafrin, will be carried out at night when the volume of vehicles crossing Jalan Rasuna Said decreases. Dishub also coordinates with the police regarding traffic engineering for narrowing the road during the demolition process.

"We continue to coordinate with it. Therefore, there is no road closure, there is only the use of slow lanes for the placement of heavy equipment during the demolition," said Syafrin.

Meanwhile, the Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Office, Heru Suwondo, said that there were 98 former monorail project poles that would be dismantled along Jalan Rasuna Said. The DKI Provincial Government has allocated a budget of up to Rp. 100 billion to carry out demolition and landscaping of the area.

Heru said the funding was allocated directly from the 2026 DKI Jakarta Regional Budget (APBD). He is optimistic that the DKI Provincial Government has the budget, although it is still in the early years.

"The total is around Rp. 100 billion. The payment is not at the beginning of the year. It depends on the process," said Heru.

Heru revealed that the Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung asked for the demolition of the broken monorail pole in Rasuna Said to be accelerated from the initial plan.

In the initial stage, the demolition will be carried out by the Yellow Force of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Office. Heru emphasized that his party was ready to immediately dismantle the old monorail project pole that was not completed.

"If we want it to be ready. So because the Governor asked for it to be dismantled next Wednesday, yes we will carry it out. Because it has been filled with all the rules. So yes we will do the demolition and we will manage Jalan Rasuna Said," said Heru.

In the demolition of the pole, the DKI Provincial Government also carried out pavement arrangement to road repairs. Later, there will be no more separation between fast lanes and slow lanes because the pole in the middle of the lane has been dismantled.

"Later, the fast lane and slow lane separators will disappear, just like on the west side of Jalan Rasuna Said. There, the road and sidewalk are already neat," he said.
