Influencer's criticism is answered by the terror of rotten chicken and eggs, the DPR asks the police to investigate thoroughly
Member of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Abdullah, supports the steps of the Palace which asked the Indonesian National Police (Polri) to investigate the terror experienced by a number of influencers and activists after delivering criticism of the government. He hopes that the police will move quickly and seriously so that the country will not lose to intimidation practices.
"The steps of the Palace are right. The National Police must immediately conduct a thorough investigation and investigation into the terror experienced by influencers. The state must not lose to intimidation practices," Abdullah told reporters, Tuesday, January 7.
Abdullah emphasized that the public - including influencers and activists - have a constitutional right to criticize the government. Criticism, he said, is an important part of democracy as long as it is presented in an ethical way.
"Criticism is legitimate and guaranteed by law. As long as it is done with polite language and correct ethics, no party should feel entitled to commit terror or pressure," said the PKB legislator from the Central Java VI Electoral District.
He also reminded President Prabowo Subianto's statement that he did not oppose criticism. According to Abdullah, the President actually sees criticism as an important input for the government.
"President Prabowo has emphasized that he is not anti-criticism. Criticism is very needed so that the government knows the shortcomings and mistakes that exist, so that improvements can be made in the future," he said.
Abdullah hopes that the case of terror against influencers and activists will be revealed immediately so that it does not create fear among the public and does not harm the democratic climate.
"Quick and transparent law enforcement will send a strong message that the state is present to protect its citizens," he said.
Previously, Secretary of State Prasetyo Hadi asked the police to thoroughly investigate the terror against a number of influencers who often criticize government policies.
"Yes, we ask that all be investigated," Prasetyo told reporters in Hambalang, Bogor, West Java, Tuesday, January 6.
Prasetyo emphasized that the government remained open to criticism and suggestions. However, he reminded that criticism should be delivered in the right way and through available communication channels.
A number of influencers and activists are reported to have experienced terror from unknown people. Professor of the Faculty of Law at Gadjah Mada University Zainal Arifin Mochtar received threats to come to the police station.
Influencer Sherly Annavita experienced terror in the form of threatening messages, throwing rotten eggs at the house, and vandalism on her car.
Meanwhile, Ramond Dony Adam alias DJ Donny was terrorized by the throwing of molotov bombs to his house and a package containing a chicken carcass accompanied by threats.
