DVI Polda NTT Pastikan Jasad yang Ditemukan di Perairan Komodo adalah WNA Spanyol

JAKARTA - The East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Police Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team confirmed that the body found in the waters of Komodo Island on Tuesday, January 6, was one of the victims of Foreign Nationals (WNA) from Spain in the sinking of the KM Putri Sakinah in the Padar Strait.

Head of Public Relations of the NTT Police, Kombes Pol Henry Novika Chandra, said the certainty was conveyed after a forensic examination was carried out.

"So it is certain that the body of the victim found yesterday is one of the four victims of the Putri Sakinah boat that sank last December," he said when contacted in Kupang, Wednesday, quoted by Antara.

In addition to being examined by forensics, he said, the DVI team also compared ante mortem and post mortem data by the West Manggarai Police DVI Team together with the Komodo Hospital Medical Team.

"Based on the results of the DVI identification, the victim was confirmed to be male and 10 years old, and was a foreign national from Spain who was a victim in the sea accident of the KM Putri Sakinah," he added.

The public relations chief emphasized that the NTT Police Chief Inspector General, Irjen Pol Rudi Darmoko, had also given full attention to the process of identifying the victims, by instructing the NTT Police DVI Team to work professionally, thoroughly, and prioritize international humanitarian standards, considering that the victims were children and foreign nationals.

"The NTT Police Chief has given special attention to the DVI Team so that all stages of identification are carried out accurately, transparently, and responsibly, in order to provide certainty to the victim's family," said Henry Novika Chandra.

With the discovery of one victim, he continued, there are now three victims found from the four victims who were declared drowned and missing since December 26, 2025.

The last body was found at around 14.30 Wita in the waters of Komodo Island, Komodo District, West Manggarai Regency, on the 12th day of searching for victims of the sea accident of the KM Putri Sakinah which sank on December 26, 2025 in the waters of South Padar.

Now there is one more victim who is still being searched. The SAR team is still searching until Wednesday, January 7. The SAR team is still trying to find the last victim by deploying 160 joint personnel.
