DKI Provincial Government Starts Simultaneous Building Feasibility Audit This Month
JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will carry out a comprehensive and simultaneous building safety and building safety audit this month. This audit targets government and private buildings, as a preventive measure against fire risks and structural failures in the capital region.
Head of the DKI Jakarta Department of Construction, Spatial Planning, and Land (DCKTRP) Vera Revina Sari said that the building legality audit was carried out to ensure that every building used by the public has met the applicable technical and safety standards.
"Public safety is our top priority. Through this building safety audit, we want to ensure that all buildings in Jakarta, both government and private, are really functional and meet safety standards, especially from fire risks and structural failures," said Vera, Wednesday, January 7.
Vera explained that the audit would be carried out on public buildings with various characteristics. The DKI Provincial Government will take samples on buildings with five to eight floors, as well as a number of buildings with a height of over eight floors.
He said that before the field audit was carried out, his party would distribute a list of building legality checks to the owner or manager of the building. This instrument is intended as a means of initial evaluation of the condition of the building.
"Furthermore, we will distribute the building legality checklist to the building owner or manager. This checklist can be used to conduct a self-assessment before the field audit is carried out," said Vera.
"This step is expected to help building owners understand the condition of their buildings early on and accelerate the audit process," he added.
In its implementation, the building safety audit will involve a number of cross-sectoral institutions. DCKTRP will coordinate with the Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat), the Manpower, Transmigration and Energy Service (TKTE), the Investment and One-Stop Service (PMPTSP), and the mayor's elements in five administrative regions and the Thousand Islands Regency.
Vera emphasized the importance of support from building owners and managers so that the audit process runs optimally. He hopes that this step can encourage the creation of a safer urban environment for Jakarta residents.
"We ask all building owners and managers to actively support this activity plan. Through collaboration between the government and the community, it is hoped that a safer, orderly, and sustainable urban environment will be created for all Jakarta residents," concluded Vera.
