JAKARTA - A white Low Cost Green Car (CGC) was forcibly stopped by other car drivers in the Cawang Transjakarta Stop area, East Jakarta on Tuesday, January 6, 2026. The car was stopped because the driver was suspected of being a hit-and-run perpetrator.
"Woy hit and ran, stayed in place, stayed in place. Hit and run, hit and run. Woy is silent. Hit and run sir (while asking for help from residents). Get down, get down," the victim said in a video recording that circulated, Wednesday, January 7, 2026.
The incident began when the victim's Honda Jazz car and another car were victims of an accident on the Jagorawi Toll Road.
However, instead of stopping the speed of his car, the bald-headed car driver immediately gassed up and left the scene.
Even the Honda jazz car was bounced and turned around when it was hit by the perpetrator. Fortunately, the driver of the Honda Jazz managed to control the steering wheel of his car so that it did not lose control.
The perpetrator who had hit the victim then fled, while the victim continued to chase the perpetrator until he left the Cawang toll road, UKI area, Kramat Jati, East Jakarta.
The perpetrator also drove his car recklessly and almost hit other vehicles. The perpetrator was stopped and secured by residents in the Cawang UKI area.
The perpetrator almost became the target of the masses in the area. Fortunately, the perpetrator was finally arrested when police officers arrived at the crime scene.
According to the victim's statement, an alcoholic beverage bottle was found in the perpetrator's car with the passenger containing 5 men. The perpetrator was suspected of driving while drunk.
For further processing, the perpetrator was finally taken to the nearest police station.
