Follow Dedi Mulyadi's Order, Oil Palm Plantation in Cirebon Replaced with Mangoes

Cirebon - The Cirebon Regency Government, West Java, will replace oil palm trees planted in Pasaleman District with mango commodities. The replacement is a follow-up to the Circular Letter (SE) of West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi which prohibits the planting of oil palm.

Cirebon Regent Imron said the local government had reviewed the location of the palm oil plantation, which had been a public concern. This review, he said, was carried out to ensure the factual conditions on the ground and determine the steps taken by the local government.

"Today we are having a discussion with the TNI and DPRD elements because there is an SE from the Governor who prohibits the planting of oil palm in West Java," said Imron in his statement, Tuesday, January 6.

He said that from the results of the interim review, the area of land that had been planted with oil palm in Pasaleman District, Cirebon was only around 2.5 hectares with a number of 400 stems.

Regarding the total land, he said, for the cultivation of oil palm reached 6.5 hectares, but some were still in the form of plans and had not been realized.

Imron emphasized that the local government fully supports the policies taken by the West Java Provincial Government, and follows up on it at the district level.

"I think this is still small. With the circulation of the West Java Governor, we from Cirebon Regency fully support," he said.

He ensured that in the near future, the local government would replace palm oil commodities with plants that were considered more suitable for the character of the region of Pasaleman, Cirebon.
