Jealous, a couple in Makassar raped an employee
MAKASSAR - Investigators from the Women and Children Service Unit of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Makassar Police Station have named a married couple with the initials SK (24) and SM (39) as suspects in sexual violence. The two are suspected of colluding to imprison and force their employee, K (22), to have sexual relations under the threat of violence.
This case began with SM's jealousy of the victim, who was accused of having an affair with her husband for seven months. On Saturday (3/1/2026), the victim was asked to come to the suspect's residence in Tamalate District, then escorted into the room. At this location, the victim was forced to take off her clothes after previously receiving physical abuse.
Makassar Police Chief Kombes Pol Arya Perdana explained that the suspect SK committed rape with the knowledge of his wife. Meanwhile, SM was tasked with recording the scene using a mobile phone as a form of intimidation.
"The victim was beaten, kicked, and threatened so that he was in a depressed state. The video recording was not with the victim's consent, but was purely a part of a criminal act," said Arya, Tuesday, January 6.
To investigators, SM admitted that he had committed the act because he had been influenced by news from the environment where his business was located. Although SK had denied the accusation of cheating, SM still forced the torture scenario in order to get the victim's confession. The police confirmed that there was no indication of a mental disorder in both suspects.
For their actions, the couple of yellow rice entrepreneurs was charged with Article 6 letter b and letter c in conjunction with Article 14 paragraph (1) letter a and paragraph (2) of Law Number 12 of 2022 concerning Sexual Violence Crimes (TPKS).
"They are threatened with a maximum prison sentence of 12 years and a fine of Rp. 300 million," concluded the former Metro Depok Police Chief.
