Jambi Police Investigate Case of TPPO Female Sold to Johor Malaysia

JAKARTA - Jambi Police are investigating a case of alleged Human Trafficking (TPPO) which occurred in Johor, Malaysia.

"The victim is suspected of being a victim of human trafficking in the Johor region, Malaysia, and has recently been deported back to Indonesia," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Jambi Police, Kompol Hendra Manurung, as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, January 6.

He explained that the victim was initially promised to work as a massage therapist or massage abroad with the promise of a large salary, but upon arrival in Malaysia, the victim was allegedly trafficked and forced to serve prostitution in one of the areas in Johor.

"The victim experienced a very bad and traumatic experience and we are still investigating the chronology of the incident and the modus operandi used by the perpetrator," said Hendra.

The police are currently focusing on the alleged modus operandi of illegal job offers and will reveal the parties involved, including the network of illegal labor recipients or distributors.
