Dinkes Kaltara and RSD Soemarno Ensure There Are No Cases of Super Flu
TANJUNG SELOR - The North Kalimantan Provincial Health Office (Dinkes) confirmed that there was no new disease known as "super flu", following public concerns about flu with symptoms that are considered heavier than usual.
The head of the Kaltara Health Office, Usman, explained that the term refers more to a faster rate of spread and severity of symptoms in some cases.
"This is not a new disease name, in general the symptoms still resemble the flu. However, in some cases it can develop more seriously, such as high fever to respiratory disorders," said Usman, Tuesday, January 6.
He revealed that this condition is different from COVID-19, although it has similarities in the pattern of transmission because it is spread through the respiratory tract.
"The type of transmission is almost the same, especially if crowded, but this is not COVID-19," he said.
Usman explained that the fatality rate of the flu is relatively low and does not require special handling such as strict isolation as in the case of COVID-19.
"There is no need for isolation because the severity is lower. The handling is almost the same as the common flu," explained Usman.
"The Kaltara Health Office appeals to the public to remain vigilant, especially in the midst of rainy weather conditions that can reduce body resistance and facilitate the transmission of the virus, by maintaining health and wearing masks when they are flu or fever," he continued.
The same thing was expressed by the Director of the Regional General Hospital (RSUD) dr Soemarno Sosroatmojo, Widodo, who confirmed that there had been no reports of super flu cases at the hospital.
"Alhamdulillah, there are no reports of super flu cases at this time," said Widodo.
He emphasized that vigilance is still needed by implementing a clean and healthy lifestyle as the main prevention measure in the community.
"Standard vigilance is to apply a clean and healthy lifestyle," he said.
Meanwhile, for health workers and hospital employees, continued Widodo, vigilance is carried out by continuing to implement the principles of the infection prevention and control program.
"The use of masks is applied to rooms or areas with a high risk of infection, such as isolation rooms, operating rooms, and the like," he said.
He also emphasized that flu with severe symptoms including diseases that can be cured by themselves if the body's resistance is in good condition.
"Super flu is a self-limiting disease, in which with good immunity, viral infections can be overcome," he said.
