Seven Huntara Blocks in Aceh Tamiang Targeted to Be Completed by January 10, 2026
JAKARTA - Seven temporary housing blocks (huntara) for people affected by flash floods and landslides in Aceh Tamiang Regency, Aceh Province, are targeted to be completed on Saturday, January 10, 2026.
"Currently, the progress of the huntara construction has reached about 75 percent and as many as 7 blocks were completed on Saturday, January 10, 2026," said Minister of Public Works (PU) Dody Hanggodo in a written statement, Tuesday, January 6.
The construction of the huntara is planned to consist of seven modular building blocks with a capacity of 12 heads of households (KK) per block in Gampong Bundar, Aceh Tamiang.
Of the total 7 main blocks, one block is still temporarily functioning as a material storage area because its position is at the front of the location and directly borders the road.
From a technical perspective, the huntara is built using a modular building system with a light steel frame structure that is designed to be strong, quick to build and still provide comfort for residents.
The stages of work include foundation construction, installation of modular frames, light steel walls and roofs, to mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) work.
Overall, the Aceh Tamiang huntara is designed to accommodate around 84 KK or around 336 people in one location. Later, each block can accommodate up to 12 KK or around 48 people.
The huntara area is equipped with various supporting facilities, including communal toilets, electrical and lighting installations, as well as clean water and sanitation networks.
Dody claimed that the construction of the huntara was a tangible manifestation of the state's presence in providing more decent, safe and humane housing for residents affected by flash floods and landslides.
"With the availability of huntara, the public is expected to undergo the recovery period in better condition," he added.
