2.49 Million Vehicles Pass Through Trans Sumatra Toll during the 2025/2026 Nataru Holidays

JAKARTA - PT Hutama Karya (Persero) or HK recorded that as many as 2,491,021 vehicles had crossed the toll road managed by the company during the Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 (Nataru 2025/2026) holiday period.

"During the period from December 2025 to January 4, 2026, the total number of vehicles passing through the toll road was recorded at 2,491,021 vehicles or 43.32 percent higher than normal traffic and increased by 7.63 percent compared to the Nataru 2024/2025 traffic," said EVP Corporate Secretary of Hutama Karya Mardiansyah in a written statement, Tuesday, January 6.

Mardiansyah explained that the peak of the homecoming flow occurred on December 21, 2025 with a total of 140,419 vehicles passing. This figure is up 38 percent compared to normal traffic conditions. Meanwhile, the peak of the return flow was recorded on January 4, 2026 with a total of 154,420 vehicles or up 78.33 percent from normal conditions.

Based on the evaluation that has been carried out, the Kuala Tanjung-Sinaksak Toll Road is one of the sections with the highest traffic, reaching 599,514 vehicles.

The high volume of vehicles on the section is influenced by its position as a vital corridor that connects people's movements and tourist activities from the Kuala Tanjung area to Sinaksak and vice versa.

Meanwhile, the highest percentage increase compared to normal traffic volume (VLL) occurred on the Sigli-Banda Aceh Toll Road which reached 87.50 percent, driven by the addition of the functional section of the Padang Tiji-Seulimeum section.

"From this data, we not only see the magnitude of traffic, but also map the points and times that most need service reinforcement. That way, the response in the field can be faster, more targeted, and the impact is immediately felt by users," he said.

According to Mardiansyah, the Nataru 2025/2026 service on the Trans Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS) can run well due to operational readiness, synergy across stakeholders, and support for road user service facilities at strategic points.

A number of service strategies were implemented during the Nataru period, ranging from optimizing traffic management at density-prone points, strengthening integrated service information and public communications to increasing the readiness of rest area services and user facilities.

"We want road users to feel safer, more comfortable and more helpful every time they pass through JTTS," added Mardiansyah.
