Pertamina EP Adera Field Finds New Well with Oil Flow Potential of 3,442 BOPD

JAKARTA - PT Pertamina EP (PEP) Adera Field has discovered a new oil well with a potential of up to 3,442 barrels of oil per day (BOPD).

Based on the two-hour test on December 30, 2025 at 14.30-16.30 WIB, the ABB-143 (U1) well showed a production capacity of 3,442 BOPD.

General Manager of Pertamina EP Zone 4 Djudjuwanto said that this two-hour test was considered more representative of stable flow conditions.

"The initial flow test was carried out to find out the maximum ability (deliverability) of the well to naturally drain oil without the help of tools," he said, Tuesday, January 6.

He continued, the results of this test are not long-term daily production figures, but become an initial basis for assessing the performance of wells and the characteristics of oil storage rock layers (reservoirs).

After the well cleaning (clean up) phase was completed, PEP Adera Field continued with a multi-rate flow test.

This test is carried out to determine the ideal production rate, gas-oil ratio (GOR), and water content in oil.

The data from this test results are the basis for good reservoir management to maintain the sustainability of production and obtain optimal oil recovery.

"ABB-143 (U1) well is expected to provide additional daily production of around 458 barrels of oil per day under certain operating conditions, with an estimated total potential oil recovery or Estimated Ultimate Recovery (EUR) of around 750 thousand barrels of oil based on comparison with the reference well," he continued.

For your information, the reference well is a well that has previously produced in the same rock area and layer. This well serves as a reference to estimate the potential for oil production from a newly discovered well.

Djudjuwanto also conveyed that the discovery of this new oil well was the result of the integration of 3D Abab seismic data acquired in 2023.

This new approach was obtained from the study of the Geology, Geophysics, Reservoir, and Production (GGRP) Team of the PEP Adera Field.

Through a more detailed analysis of seismic data, the team was able to map the direction and distribution of the reservoir layer more accurately.

That way, the chances of drilling success are greater.

Djudjuwanto said that the discovery of this new well was an injection for the PEP Adera Field in increasing oil and gas production in 2026.

This discovery also encourages the creation of the lifting target of 1 million barrels per day set by the government.

"Technological innovation and the application of new approaches encourage PEP's performance in realizing national energy resilience," said Djudjuwanto.
