Muncul Lagi Wacana Pilkada Lewat DPRD, Dasco: Kita Fokus Bencana Dulu

JAKARTA - Chairman of the DPP Gerindra Party and Deputy Speaker of the DPR, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, responded to the reappearance of the discussion of Regional Head Elections (Pilkada) through the DPRD. He emphasized that at this time all parties, especially the government, are focusing on handling disasters in Sumatra.

"If we talk about political parties, of course, they all have voiced their wishes for the future, yes. Well, if asked at this time, let's all focus on handling the disaster in Sumatra first," said Dasco at the DPR building, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday, January 6.

Moreover, said Dasco, currently there are several mountains in Indonesia that are starting to 'wake up from sleep', so the government needs to focus on disaster mitigation.

"And also, we don't expect it, but there is a potential for a mountain that may later have to be handled properly," he continued.

Dasco said a number of political parties had expressed their stance regarding the proposal submitted by Golkar Chairman Bahlil Lahadalia. However, Dasco said, it was better for this wrong national energy to be focused on post-disaster recovery in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra.

"Therefore, the problems that were controversial yesterday and then there were several attitudes, yes, we will also ask that we focus on the disaster first," he said.

In addition, Dasco emphasized that the DPR has not discussed the proposal, whether it will be accommodated this year or next year. Moreover, the DPR is currently on a recess.

"Well, the discussion or non-discussion, it has not been decided when it will be discussed, because we are still on recess. So I can't answer," said Dasco.
