Telkomsel Records 12.4 Percent Increase in Data Traffic During 2026 Nataru
JAKARTA - Telkomsel recorded a 12.4 percent surge in network traffic during the 2026 Christmas and New Year (NARU) period, with the peak on December 26, 2025 - January 1, 2026.
"In this NARU period, we are still experiencing positive growth in terms of traffic, so our payload grew by around 12.4 percent, even when compared to the NARU period in 2024 we are still growing by around 3.8 percent," said Telkomsel President Director Nugroho in his statement.
Regionally, Nugroho explained that almost all Telkomsel operational areas recorded traffic growth. The area with the highest increase was recorded in Area 4 which includes Sulawesi, Maluku, and Irian Jaya.
Furthermore, Telkomsel also recorded a surge in SMS traffic to 51.02 percent, while voice traffic also increased by 11.37 percent.
The surge was also seen in digital services. Video streaming traffic reached 27.12 PB or grew 20.13 percent, social media recorded 17.31 PB with an increase of 13.87 percent, and digital communication services reached 10.33 PB or increased by 21.31 percent.
Meanwhile, e-commerce services also recorded traffic of 1.46 PB with a growth of 13.15 percent, and online gaming reached 2.17 PB or jumped 33.8 percent.
According to him, this spike is an important lesson for Telkomsel to continue to improve network quality so that digital services can be enjoyed by customers with a more optimal experience.
"This is also a learning material for us that these digital services can continue to be enjoyed with even better quality," he added.
To support the surge in NARU traffic, Telkomsel has previously optimized its network at 437 crowded points (POI) throughout Indonesia.
In addition, Telkomsel also operates more than 5,000 5G BTS in 59 cities/regencies, as well as utilizing end-to-end AI-based Autonomous Network technology to maintain the reliability and quality of service during high traffic periods.
