Avanza Driver Who Was Attacked by Residents at the Caman Bekasi Red Light Was Finally Punished by the Police
JAKARTA - A minibus was hit by residents after being involved in a traffic accident on Jalan Raya KH Noer Ali (Kalimalang), Bekasi City, West Java, on Monday night, January 5, 2026. The vehicle was allegedly speeding in the wrong direction until it hit and dragged a motorcycle for about one kilometer.
Kanit Gakkum Satlantas Polres Metro Bekasi Kota, Iptu Iswahyudi, said the incident occurred at around 19.30 WIB, precisely at the Caman red light, Jakasampurna Village, West Bekasi District, Bekasi City.
"The incident involved a Toyota Avanza minibus and a Honda Beat motorcycle. As a result of this incident, one motorcycle rider suffered minor injuries," said Iswahyudi, in his statement, Tuesday, December 6, 2025.
Iswahyudi explained that the driver of the Toyota Avanza was known as HA (38), a resident of Medan Satria District, Bekasi City. Meanwhile, the driver of the Honda Beat motorcycle with the initials EJ (35), a civil servant who resides in South Bekasi District.
Based on preliminary information, the Toyota Avanza was traveling from Jatibening direction to the south. Upon arrival at the scene, the vehicle was suspected of entering the opposite lane while turning right towards Bintang City.
"At the same time, a Honda Beat motorcycle came from Jakarta towards the west and wanted to turn right towards Jatibening, so the collision could not be avoided," he explained.
After the accident, the driver of the Toyota Avanza actually fled with the condition of the motorcycle being dragged by his vehicle. Residents who saw the incident then chased after the Avanza car until it stopped around the Global Prestasi School.
"The Avanza car was then vandalized by the crowd, while the driver was also a victim of the residents' rampage," said Iswahyudi.
Officers from the Gakkum Unit of the Satlantas Unit of the Bekasi City Metro Police who received the report immediately came to the scene to conduct an investigation of the crime scene, find witnesses, and document it.
"The driver who was injured due to the mass rampage has been taken to the Bekasi City Hospital for medical treatment," he said.
Meanwhile, the accident caused traffic from Jakarta to Bekasi to be delayed for quite some time due to the crowd of residents and vehicles that stopped at the scene. The police then secured the situation and regulated traffic until it was back to normal.
Currently, the case of the traffic accident is still being handled by Team 3 of the Gakkum Unit of the Bekasi City Metro Police to investigate further the exact cause of the incident.
