Paul Mescal Talks Taking a Break, Denies Retiring from Acting

JAKARTA - Paul Mescal had shocked the public after his statement regarding acting breaks. Knowing this, the 29-year-old actor gave an explanation in a recent interview.

Previously, Paul Mescal said, "I think I don't act as much as I can," when interviewed by The Guardian.

After that, he explained that he didn't plan to retire anytime soon. He felt he needed a time of rest where he wasn't promoting anything.

"What I mean is I'm excited for a time when I'm not promoting anything," Paul Mescal said, quoted by People.

"I really lose my mind if I take two years off from my job, but what I'm looking forward to is the concept of not going on a promotional tour for two years," he said.

Currently, Mescal is promoting the film Hamnet, the latest film from Chloe Zhao with Jessie Buckley. He also has a number of acting plans for several years.

"I think that time will give people a break from seeing my face," said Paul Mescal.

Paul Mescal has also been confirmed to play Paul McCartney in the Beatles biopic, which is set to hit cinemas in 2028.

Even though the filming schedule for The Beatles has started, Paul Mescal is still promoting the film Hamnet at various film festivals and award shows, one of which is the Golden Globes on January 11.
