Kemen HAM Receives KPK's Confiscated Land in Sumedang to Build Development Center
JAKARTA - The Ministry of Human Rights (Kemen HAM) has received land resulting from the confiscation of assets from cases handled by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to be built as a Human Rights Development Center.
The asset in the form of land is located in the South Sumedang District, Sumedang Regency, West Java, worth Rp. 10.8 billion. Later, the facility will be a place to increase the competence of the apparatus, both at the central and regional levels.
"This gift will be a center of education. Yes, the center of human breeding of Indonesia, the civilization of human rights, the Indonesian nation," said Human Rights Minister Natalius Pigai at the Human Rights Ministry Office, Jakarta, Tuesday, quoted by Antara.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Human Rights Mugiyanto said the land allocation at the beginning of this year was an important momentum to strengthen clean, transparent, accountable, and service-oriented governance based on human rights.
He said that the Ministry of Human Rights was committed to ensuring that the government was in line with human rights principles.
This role, he said, places the Ministry of Human Rights as a critical and constructive partner for all ministries, institutions, and local governments as well as other state institutions, so that the direction of national development does not raise concerns about the basic rights of citizens.
"The transfer of confiscated assets from corruption cases into human rights education and training facilities, shows law enforcement, provides direct benefits for improving human resources capacity," said Mugiyanto.
KPK Chairman Setyo Budiyanto explained that the transfer of assets in the form of six plots of land and two building assets or in the form of a hotel was a seizure in a case that had been going on for quite some time, in 2020.
He said the use of land to become a Human Rights Development Center is important because this human rights issue is the right of every person, the right of every citizen.
"It is hoped that with this educational place, the process will be better for matters related to human rights. There is no discrimination anymore," said Setyo.
