Violation of Safety Rules, the Ministry of Transportation Suspended the Permit for the Transportation of People PT Cahaya Trans for One Year

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) through the Directorate General of Land Transportation has frozen the permit for the organization of passenger transportation owned by PT Cahaya Wisata Transportasi or Cahaya Trans for 12 months or one year.

The sanction was imposed following a number of serious violations in the implementation of public transportation, including violations of safety aspects that resulted in fatal accidents.

Director General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation, Aan Suhanan, said that the suspension of the permit was effective from the issuance of the Decree of the Director General of Land Transportation Number KP-DRJD 23 of 2026.

"During the application of administrative sanctions, the company is also required to renew the business license and the Supervision Card owned by it and report and register all the fleets used/operated on the Integrated Electronic Business License System or Online Single Submission," Aan said in an official statement, Tuesday, January 6.

In addition, PT Cahaya Wisata Transportasi is also required to prepare, implement, and apply the Public Transportation Safety Management System within three months from the issuance of the latest business license.

"PT Cahaya Wisata Transportasi is obliged to carry out repairs and responsibility for the violations committed and report them to the Director General of Land Transportation," Aan said.

The Ministry of Transportation emphasized that if this obligation is not carried out, the company will be subject to further administrative sanctions in the form of revocation of the permit for the organization of inter-provincial inter-provincial bus transportation (AKAP) and tourist bus transportation.

Based on the results of supervision and clarification meetings, the Director General of Land Transportation found a number of violations committed by Cahaya Trans.

The violations include not reporting changes in company management, operating vehicles that do not correspond to the type of service based on the permit held, and operating vehicles whose permit validity has expired.

In addition, Cahaya Trans was also considered negligent in operating vehicles until causing an accident that resulted in casualties.

"PO Cahaya Trans also violated the law by operating a vehicle that had expired its permit and negligence in operating the vehicle, resulting in an accident that caused casualties," said Aan.

As is known, the Cahaya Trans bus with vehicle number B 7201 IV was involved in an accident on the Krapyak Toll exit junction, Semarang, Central Java, on December 22, 2025.

It is suspected that when passing through a turning road, the driver was unable to control the speed of the vehicle so that the bus swayed and rolled to the right. The incident resulted in 16 people dying and 12 people being injured.

Aan emphasized that the Ministry of Transportation would not hesitate to take firm action against public transportation companies that violated the provisions of laws and regulations.

"We will not hesitate to take firm action against public transportation companies that violate the provisions. We will give sanctions in accordance with the laws and regulations so that it can have a deterrent effect. We hope that through this incident, it can be an important lesson for all bus companies to obey the rules," he concluded.
