Pramono Claims Jakarta is Super Alert Even Though There Are No Cases Yet
JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated that the DKI Provincial Government has prepared anticipatory steps related to the potential entry of the super flu, although until now no cases have been found in Jakarta.
Pramono said that the readiness was carried out as a preventive measure, given the dynamics of infectious diseases that can develop quickly. He emphasized that he had given direct instructions to the relevant ranks, especially the DKI Jakarta Health Service.
He also admitted that he had coordinated with the central government to ensure Jakarta's readiness to face the worst possible case, including if cases began to be detected in the capital.
"Regarding the super flu, I have specifically asked the Head of the Health Office, Ms. Ani to prepare it. Yesterday I also communicated with the Minister of Health," said Pramono in Cakung, East Jakarta, Tuesday, January 6.
The summoning of the Head of the DKI Jakarta Health Service is said to be an initial step to ensure technical readiness in the field, ranging from monitoring to response if there is an increase in cases.
"So that way, Jakarta has anticipated it, because I have specifically called the Health Office for things related to the super flu," said Pramono.
According to Pramono, the interim report shows that there has been no super flu found in Jakarta. However, he assessed that preparedness still needs to be carried out without waiting for cases.
"Indeed, to this day, from the reports in Jakarta, there is none, even if there is, we also have to be prepared," he said.
Previously, the DKI Jakarta Health Office stated that until now no cases of super flu have been found in the capital city. However, vigilance is still needed considering the high mobility of residents after the Christmas and New Year holidays and the arrival of the rainy season.
The Head of the DKI Jakarta Health Office, Ani Ruspitawati, explained that the super flu is an Acute Respiratory Tract Infection (ISPA) disease caused by the Influenza Type A H3N2 Subclade K virus. This disease is called super flu because of its relatively faster spread rate.
"This virus has started to increase its transmission activity since August 2025 worldwide. However, the latest epidemiological data released by WHO does not indicate an increase in the severity of the disease," said Ani.
Based on the results of whole genome sequencing (WGS) released by the Ministry of Health on January 1, 2026, SuperFlu is known to have circulated in Indonesia since August 2025.
Currently, the super flu has been detected in eight provinces, namely East Java, South Kalimantan, West Java, South Sumatra, North Sumatra, Central Java, North Sulawesi, and the Special Region of Yogyakarta.
"Based on this information, there is currently no case of super flu in the DKI Jakarta Province," said Ani.
