Basarnas Deploys 70 Members to Search for Missing Climber on Mount Slamet

SEMARANG - Basarnas Semarang, Central Java, has deployed around 70 members and volunteers to continue the search for a climber, Syafiq Ridhan Ali Razan (18), who was reported missing on Mount Slamet since Friday, December 27.

Basarnas Semarang staff Handika Hengki when contacted by ANTARA said, initially there were about 120 people who wanted to join the search for victims to Mount Slamet, but considering all the consequences, it was finally decided that 70 people would be divided into four teams.

"Yes, we are currently with volunteers continuing the search which started from the base camp (meeting point) at 07.00 WIB. It is estimated that this search and rescue team has reached the first post of the climbing route," he said, Tuesday, January 6.

According to him, this reduction in the number of members takes into account all possible possibilities, so that Basarnas specializes in personnel or volunteers who already have qualifications and specifications.

However, he said, Basarnas allowed Syafiq Ridhan Ali's parents named Dhani to participate in the search for their son who is now suspected of being lost.

"Yesterday, it didn't climb to look for victims because it was closed. With the sunny weather, only today the family together with three teams went up to comb the three and five posts down, while the others did a sweep to the location of the peak of the water flow of the vegetation limit which is at the limit of the Baturaden path, Banyumas," he said.

According to him, based on Himawan's testimony - Syafiq Ridhan's friend - the two were originally at the top of the vegetation boundary water flow.

"So, based on Himawan's witness, Syafiq Ridhan Ali got lost because the victim had previously experienced cramps so he couldn't continue the journey," he said.

Handika said that as many as 62 personnel are estimated to have passed post one. Additional searches for the victims will be carried out for two days and will be stopped on Wednesday (7/1).

"The search will be carried out from today and will be stopped tomorrow, Wednesday (7/1). Hopefully the victim can be found safely soon," he said.

Syafiq Ridhan Ali Razan (18), a resident of Kramat Utara, North Magelang, disappeared while climbing Mount Slamet through the Dipajaya route, Clekatakan Village, Pulosari District, Pemalang Regency, Central Java.

At that time, Syafiq Ali climbed with Himawan Choidar Bahran, a resident of Secang, Magelang. The two climbed through the Dipajaya Clekatan climbing route on Friday (27/12). Himawan was found by the SAR team on Tuesday (30/12). As for Syafiq Ali, he has not been found so far.
