Komdigi Sukses Develop 10 Startups through the Garuda Spark Program in Bandung

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Communication and Digital has successfully curated and developed 10 local startups, through the Garuda Spark Program in Bandung in the first three months of its implementation.

President of Alkademi Foundation, Dyah R. Helmi, assessed that Garuda Spark opened wide access to digital learning for residents of Bandung and its surroundings, especially the younger generation who want to enter the digital industry.

"With Garuda Spark, people can learn digital business and the global ecosystem anytime. Everything is open and free for Bandung residents," said Helmi in a Komdigi official release quoted on Tuesday, January 6.

Alkademi together with global partners recorded 15,749 applications made by SMK students in West Java in a series of activities and received a Guinness World Record.

The end-of-year community event was attended by around 12,000 online participants. A number of startups have also begun to compile sustainability reports as a strategy for survival and growth.

Minister of Communication and Digital, Meutya Hafid, emphasized that Garuda Spark was designed as an answer to the complexity of the startup industry challenge.

"In Bandung, Garuda Spark has been running for three months. There are already 10 startups that have been helped, curated, and born together by Kemkomdigi, Startup Bandung, Alkademi, and international partners such as NUS Singapore," said Meutya.

According to Meutya, the main strength of Garuda Spark lies in the ecosystem approach that brings together startups, investors, communities, and governments in one collaborative space.

"Local startups need space to learn and grow from each other. This collaboration gives them the confidence to survive and grow," he said.
