Police Arrest 3 Perpetrators of Burning PT RCP Mine Office in Morowali
Morowali Police, Central Sulawesi, arrested three suspected perpetrators of the burning of the PT Raihan Catur Putra (RCP) mine office which occurred in Bungku Pesisir District on Saturday night (3/1).
The three suspected perpetrators, with initials RM (42), A (36), and AY (46), are currently being held at the Morowali Police to undergo further legal proceedings.
"We conducted a crime scene, collected evidence and asked for the testimony of a number of witnesses. From the results of the investigation, it led to several suspected perpetrators," said Morowali Police Chief AKBP Zulkarnain as reported by ANTARA, Monday, January 5.
During the process of arresting the suspected perpetrators, they were uncooperative. One of the perpetrators even resisted using sharp weapons in the form of machetes, resulting in a Morowali Police officer being injured in the hand.
"Even though we are facing a risky situation, our personnel still act professionally, measured, and in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOP)," he said.
The police are still conducting an investigation, because there are a number of other suspected perpetrators who have been identified, but have not been secured.
"Currently we are still pursuing other suspected perpetrators. We also appeal that the person concerned immediately surrender," he said.
The Police Chief appealed to the public not to be easily provoked by information that cannot be verified for its truth, and to entrust the handling of the case entirely to the police.
The police will trace the source of information that is considered misleading regarding the handling of the case of burning the PT RCP office.
"Regarding the issues that are developing outside, we will investigate and explore the source," said Zulkarnain.
