Escape from the Pursuit of Residents, Motor Thief Climbs Residents' Roof in Pancoran, South Jakarta

JAKARTA - Police have secured a suspected perpetrator of motor vehicle theft (curanmor) who is trying to escape by climbing onto the roof of a resident's house on Jalan Pancoran Barat VIII, Pancoran, South Jakarta (Jaksel).

"The alleged perpetrator of the crime, we secured in a drunken state," said Pancoran Police Chief Kompol Mansur to reporters in Jakarta, Monday, January 5, 2026.

He said the man was suspected of committing a crime and was caught by residents so he was afraid, then looking for a hiding place.

In fact, the man was also suspected of being under the influence of alcohol so that he committed a reckless act by climbing the roof of a resident's house.

As a result of the incident, the residents' houses were damaged.

"Drunk like he was unconscious, climbed into someone's house," said Mansur.

For his actions, the family of the man suspected of being the perpetrator agreed to replace the damage to the victim's house.

Previously, a man went viral on social media for climbing onto the roof of a resident's house on Jalan Pancoran Barat VIII, Pancoran, South Jakarta.

The chase in the video involved local residents along with the Satpol PP and Public Facilities and Infrastructure Handling Officers (PPSU) at the scene.

The man is suspected of being a perpetrator of motor vehicle theft who boldly fled by climbing onto the roof of a resident's house while being chased by the crowd on Sunday (4/1) morning.
