Manggarai Brawl Pramono: Allegedly There Are Those Who Benturkan
JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung responded to the brawl that colored Jakarta in early 2026, one of which occurred in Manggarai, South Jakarta.
Pramono has received a report from the Mayor of South Jakarta M. Anwar regarding the incident. Based on internal investigations by the DKI Provincial Government, Pramono suspects that there are certain parties who deliberately trigger the brawl in the area.
"We really want to investigate first. Previously, I had been there too. We suspect that there was indeed a collision. But later, I specifically asked the Mayor to explain," said Pramono at Kemang Village, South Jakarta, Monday, January 5.
The DKI Provincial Government previously received a proposal from the DKI Jakarta DPRD to revoke the distribution of social assistance (bansos) to the families of the rioters. However, Pramono admitted that he had not considered the proposal.
Pramono admitted that the brawl in the Manggarai area had indeed been going on for a long time and had occurred repeatedly. According to him, another factor that causes fights in Manggarai is because the energy of each citizen is not properly released. In addition, they have a lot of free time because they don't have a permanent job.
Therefore, Pramono ensured that the DKI Provincial Government would make it easier for Manggarai residents to find jobs. With that, it is hoped that the potential for fighting can be avoided.
"So the most important thing is that the energy must be channeled correctly. For that, then the space for those who fight is that the energy is channeled. Work," said Pramono.
Separately, the Special Staff of the Governor of DKI Jakarta for Social Communication, Chico Hakim, revealed that the DKI Provincial Government had prepared special steps to suppress the potential for fights and social conflicts. Since November 2025, Pramono has formed and inaugurated the Jakarta Watchdog Task Force, which focuses on addressing social vulnerability.
"This task force involves cross-element collaboration, including Forkopimda (TNI-Polri), community leaders, and residents, with a humanistic approach such as early information, quick coordination, and measurable actions," he said.
For areas that have been known to be prone to conflict, such as Manggarai, the Jakarta Guard Task Force will be focused as a front guard for prevention. The Provincial Government has also prepared a channel for citizen complaints through the #JagaJakarta program.
The DKI Provincial Government targets that the prone area of fights can be suppressed to zero cases by 2026. Although it is admitted that there is no instant solution, Chico emphasized the importance of collaboration from all parties.
"We target the Manggarai area and other vulnerable areas to be zero fights in 2026. There is no instant solution, but with the collaboration of all parties, God willing, we can achieve it together," explained Chico.
