Elon Musk's Starlink Gives Free Internet to People in Venezuela
JAKARTA - Elon Musk's Starlink announced that it will provide free broadband services to the public in Venezuela until February 3, 2026.
This step is said to be aimed at ensuring that connectivity is maintained in the midst of the difficult situation facing the country.
"Starlink is providing free broadband service to the Venezuelan people until February 3, to ensure sustainable connectivity," Starlink wrote in a post on X.
This assistance comes after US President Donald Trump claimed his forces launched a major attack and arrested Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on charges of smuggling cocaine into the US and a number of other crimes.
The United States has launched attacks on Venezuela since December 2025. The first attack was carried out on the pier area on December 29, 2025, as quoted from BBC International.
Starlink has also previously provided free internet access to regions and countries, including Indonesia, which are hit by crises and disasters.
This assistance is intended to maintain connectivity in areas affected by conflicts, natural disasters, and network outages, when local telecommunications infrastructure is not functioning.
This connectivity assistance is considered crucial to support emergency communications, humanitarian aid distribution, and access to information for residents in the midst of a crisis.
