Apple Watch Helps Users Deal with 'Surrender Day' at the Beginning of the Year
Apple released the latest data on Apple Watch's efforts to help its users maintain their fitness resolutions. This data was taken from 100,000 participants who have registered in the Apple Heart and Movement Study over the past four years.
Many users start to abandon their exercise resolutions on Friday in the second week of January. With this habit appearing for years, Apple finally calls the second Friday 'Give Up Day'.
Apple is also trying to overcome this phenomenon with various capabilities on the Apple Watch. Study results show that more than 60 percent of users managed to increase their daily exercise time even if it was only a few minutes. However, the percentage reached 10 percent in early January.
This positive trend is not only seen at the beginning of the year, but continues into the spring. Around 80 percent of users who increase their activity are able to survive the 'Day of Surrender' attack until the second half in January.
Interestingly, 90 percent of the hundreds of thousands of participants still maintain their exercise levels until March. To support this good habit, Apple launched a variety of new programs in the Fitness+ service.
This service was launched to help users build their momentum. This multi-week program is specifically designed to keep users motivated and consistent in the new year. In addition, Apple is also working with Strava through the 'Don't Give Up' challenge in the application.
Through this collaboration, Apple wants to provide additional motivation for athletes and users throughout January. Hopefully, users will continue to exercise and maintain their fitness resolutions until the end of the year.
