Gold is the Most Consistent Contributor to Inflation Throughout 2025
JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded that gold, and gold jewelry, became the commodity that had the greatest influence on inflation throughout 2025.
BPS Deputy for Distribution and Services Statistics, Pudji Ismartini, explained that these commodities were recorded as contributing 11 times to the monthly inflation.
He said that the frequency makes gold the most consistent factor in forming national inflation.
"This commodity is the main commodity that contributes to monthly inflation 11 times in 2025," he said at a press conference, Monday, January 5.
According to Pudji, the cumulative inflation until December 2025 or year-to-date reached 2.92 percent and this achievement was higher than the cumulative inflation in the period December 2021 to 2024, except in 2022.
Overall, from January to December 2025, commodities from volatile price components and core components more often appear as the main contributors to monthly inflation.
"From January to December 2025, commodities from volatile price components and core components have a more frequent frequency as the main commodities contributing to monthly inflation," he said.
Furthermore, Pudji added, gold and gold jewelry contributed the most to annual inflation, as well as being the commodity that most often emerged as the main contributor to monthly inflation during 2025.
