The National Police Targets to Build 569 Bor Wells in the Sumatra Disaster Region

JAKARTA - The National Police is targeting to build 569 boreholes in a number of disaster-affected areas in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra provinces.

Karopenmas Divhumas Polri Brigjen Pol. Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko mengatakan bahwa hingga hari ini, telah terealisasi 249 titik sumur bor yang terdiri atas 236 titik aktif dan 13 titik masih dalam proses pembangunan.

The Aceh province, he said, from the 389 development plans, 171 points have been realized with 167 points in active status and 4 points are still in the development process.

"Aceh Tamiang Regency is the region with the most realization, namely 132 active points, from a special target of 300 boreholes," said Trunoyudo as reported by ANTARA, Sunday, January 4.

Other developments are spread across North Aceh Regency, Pidie Jaya, Bireuen, Central Aceh, Bener Meriah, Langsa City, East Aceh, West Aceh, Pidie, Nagan Raya, and Singkil.

Then, in North Sumatra Province, all 30 development plans have been realized and are all active. The boreholes are located in Langkat Regency, North Tapanuli, and Central Tapanuli.

Meanwhile, in West Sumatra Province, out of a total of 150 planned points, so far 48 points have been realized consisting of 39 active points and 9 points are still in the construction process.

"Construction is carried out in Agam Regency, Padang Pariaman, South Coast, as well as Padang Panjang City, Bukittinggi, and Solok City," he said.

Trunoyudo said that the construction of this bore hole was a form of the commitment of the National Police in supporting the recovery of the community after the disaster, especially related to the availability of clean water.

"The construction of this borewell is part of the real steps taken by the National Police in helping disaster-affected communities to continue to have access to clean water. This effort is carried out gradually and sustainably," he said.

The National Police, he said, continues to encourage the acceleration of development at points that are still running through coordination and synergy with various related parties.

"It is hoped that the existence of this drilling well can provide direct benefits to the community and support the post-disaster recovery process," he said.
