KAI Nataru 2025/2026 Ticket Sales Reaches 4.1 Million, Up 10.86 Percent

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) recorded the sale of tickets for Christmas and New Year (Nataru) 2025/2026 transportation exceeded the previous period's achievement. As of Sunday, January 4, 2026 morning, the total number of tickets sold reached 4,135,783 sheets.

KAI's Vice President of Corporate Communication, Anne Purba, said that the figure was the accumulated ticket sales in the period from December 18, 2025 to January 4, 2026 at 08.00 WIB.

"This achievement grew by 10.86 percent compared to the 2024/2025 Nataru period which recorded 3,730,584 tickets. This figure still has the potential to increase because ticket sales will take place until Sunday, January 4, 2026 at 24.00 WIB," said Anne in Jakarta, Sunday.

He explained that the increase in ticket sales was influenced by the high mobility of people between regions with increasingly flexible travel patterns. Data shows that passenger activity goes up and down at many stations on a single travel route, so that the level of utilization of train services increases.

"During the Christmas and New Year period, trains serve as a link for inter-regional mobility. Customer travel is spread across various stations, both on long-distance and local services," said Anne.

For long-distance train services, ticket sales were recorded at 3,363,058 pieces or equivalent to 121.8 percent of the capacity of 2,761,048 seats. Meanwhile, local train services recorded sales of 772,725 tickets, or 103.7 percent of the capacity of 745,056 seats.

Overall, KAI provided 3,506,104 seats during the 2025/2026 Nataru transportation period. The aggregate occupancy rate reached 118.0 percent.

Based on daily data, customer volume is relatively stable throughout the year-end holiday period. The peak of passenger movement was recorded on December 28, 2025 with a total of 269,719 customers, while the daily volume remained above 200 thousand customers until early January 2026.

"This pattern reflects the continued demand for travel," Anne explained.

He added that the distribution of favorite departure and destination stations shows the evenness of travel flows in various regions. This also strengthens the role of stations as regional mobility nodes.

"This condition is the basis for KAI's operational evaluation, including capacity management, schedule management, and strengthening services according to customer needs in each travel corridor," he said.

In the same period, the 30 percent discount program for commercial economy trains which is valid from December 22, 2025 to January 10, 2026 also recorded positive results. Of the total 1,509,080 seats provided, as many as 1,490,523 tickets were sold or equivalent to 99 percent, thus expanding public access to train services during the year-end holidays.

Anne also expressed her appreciation to the public for the trust given to KAI during the Christmas and New Year 2025/2026 transportation period.

"Every input and criticism is part of the evaluation to maintain the consistency of services and improve the quality of travel in the future," said Anne.
