Police Investigate Stabbing After Dispute on Kemang Highway

JAKARTA - The police are still investigating a stabbing case allegedly triggered by a dispute between motorcycle and car drivers on Jalan Raya Kemang, Mampang area, South Jakarta, on Thursday, January 1.

Mampang Police Chief, Kompol Wahid Key, said the incident was allegedly started by a vehicle collision on the road. "The temporary suspicion of a collision on the road between motorcyclists and four-wheelers," said Wahid in Jakarta, Sunday. 4 January.

He explained that the incident began with a quarrel between two-wheeled and four-wheeled drivers. In the incident, the victim was known as RHM (29), who was the driver of the car, while the stabbing perpetrator was said to be using a motorcycle.

After receiving the report, police officers immediately went to the scene to conduct an investigation and ask for information from a number of witnesses.

"So far, there are about four to five witnesses that we have examined. Members also conducted a search at locations that were allegedly visited by the perpetrator, including collecting CCTV evidence," he said.

The police are also investigating the possibility that the perpetrator was under the influence of alcohol when the incident occurred. However, this allegation still requires further investigation based on witness statements around the scene of the incident.

"It seems that the perpetrator's condition is like being under the influence of alcohol, but we are still investigating it with the testimony of witnesses," said Wahid.

He added that the victim had made a police report on the night of the incident. Until now, the identity and number of perpetrators are still under investigation because the police still need additional information from other witnesses.

Meanwhile, the victim's condition is said to require further medical treatment and has been referred to the Kramat Jati Police Hospital with the assistance of the police.

"The victim was initially taken to Mampang Hospital but because of the handling it was not possible, the members took the victim to Kramat Jati Police Hospital for further treatment," he said.
