Golkar's Idea to Form a Permanent Coalition Will Be in Vain After Failing in the Jokowi Era

JAKARTA - Political observer of the Citra Institute, Efriza predicts, the discourse on the formation of a permanent coalition to strengthen the ranks of political parties (parpol) supporting President Prabowo Subianto will fail to be realized.

"The idea of a permanent coalition launched by the Golkar Party requires a long and winding road to be realized, even if the percentage is small," he said, Sunday, January 4.

This, he said, was a reflection of a similar incident earlier, where at the beginning of the formation of the coalition government of President Joko Widodo, the idea of a permanent coalition also emerged. "Jokowi's experience in the 2014 election to present a permanent coalition, in fact, after the DPR presidential election was divided into a leadership dualism between the Red and White Coalition and the Great Indonesia Coalition," continued Efriza.

Therefore, he believes that the encouragement of the Golkar Party to form a permanent coalition to support President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka in the 2029 presidential election is a useless and futile step.

"Since the Jokowi era, the idea of a permanent coalition has failed. What exists is a coalition that embraces all parties, without eliminating the opposition, this is shown after entering the second period in 2019 to 2024," said Efriza.

Previously, the Golkar Party's Rapimnas some time ago recommended that the DPP management explore the formation of a permanent coalition. This was followed up by the Chairman of the Golkar Party, Bahlil Lahadalia, by meeting with the Chairman of the Gerindra Party, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, the Chairman of the PKB Muhaimin Iskandar and the Chairman of the PAN Zulkifli Hasan.
