UN Secretary-General Calls US Military Aggression to Venezuela as a Dangerous Precedent

JAKARTA - United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres views the United States military's actions against Venezuela as a worrying matter that could create a "dangerous precedent", spokesman Stephane Dujarric said on Saturday (3/1).

"Regardless of the situation in Venezuela, this series of developments is a dangerous precedent. The Secretary-General continues to emphasize the importance of full respect - by all parties - for international law, including the UN Charter," Dujarric said in a statement.

According to him, the Secretary-General is very concerned that international legal rules are not respected.

It is stated that the UN leader is "deeply concerned about the recent escalation in Venezuela" while warning of "potentially worrying implications for the region".

Guterres urged all parties in Venezuela to engage in an inclusive dialogue, "with full respect for human rights (HR) and the rule of law," according to the statement.
