ASUS is rumored not to release any new smartphones until 2026

JAKARTA - ASUS is rumored to stop launching new smartphones throughout 2026. This information comes from a report stating that the Taiwanese company has conveyed this decision to a number of telecommunications channels. However, ASUS confirmed that after-sales services such as device maintenance, software updates, and warranty services for all existing products will continue to run normally.

Although it has never dominated the global smartphone market or entered the ranks of the world's best-selling mobile phones, ASUS has consistently presented devices through the Zenfone and ROG Phone lines. The ROG Phone series targets the gamer segment with special features, while Zenfone is aimed at general users. However, the slowdown in the global smartphone industry is said to have an impact on ASUS's mobile phone business.

Digitimes' report states that ASUS has communicated to telecommunications channels that the company will not launch any new Android smartphones throughout 2026. However, support for existing devices, including system updates and warranty services, is ensured not to change.

Throughout 2025, ASUS only released two smartphone models, namely the Zenfone 12 Ultra and the ROG Phone 9 series. This limited launch is considered a signal of slowing down the company's smartphone business.

In addition, the Zenfone line, which was previously known for its compact design, now comes with a larger screen size. Zenfone 11 and Zenfone 12 Ultra are also judged to have lost their identity because their design increasingly resembles the ROG Phone.

Even though it stopped launching new devices, ASUS's move does not mean it is completely out of the smartphone business. The company is rumored to have stated that although the development of new hardware has been delayed, smartphone operations will continue.

The statement came after reports from distributors in Taiwan claiming that they could no longer order ASUS phones through the official local channel. This condition had sparked speculation that ASUS would stop the smartphone business completely after December 31, 2025. However, a clarification from ASUS confirmed the company's commitment to after-sales services.

This decision is also considered in line with the increasing cost of components, especially memory, which is predicted to continue to rise into 2026. Previously, ASUS had restructured its smartphone business in 2018 by shifting its focus to the premium segment and gaming devices.
