Super League results: Persija Jakarta wins 2-0 against Persijap Jepara
JAKARTA - Persija Jakarta failed to take over the top of the 2025-2026 Super League standings even though they managed to secure a 2-0 victory when they hosted Persijap Jepara at the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium on Saturday, January 3.
Persija Jakarta tactician Mauricio Souza started the match by fielding Jordi Amat, Alan Cardoso, and Maxwell Souza. The Brazilian coach deliberately made changes in the initial line-up as an effort to save energy for the match against Persib Bandung in the next week.
Cardoso became the only player from the three names above who got playing time in the second half. He came in after Persija had an advantage over the visiting team.
Then in the midfield position, Hanif Sjahbandi was present to replace Fabio Calonego who was suspended with a red card. The 28-year-old player duet with Van Basty Sousa in the Macan Kemayoran midfield and was only replaced in the middle of the second half of the match.
Playing in front of many supporters makes Persija appear confident. Their two winning goals were scored by Arlyansyah Abdulmanan in the 61st minute and Aditya Warman in the 79th minute.
This victory should have brought Persija to take over the top of the standings. Unfortunately, in another match, Borneo FC bounced back from a draw to win narrowly 2-1 against PSM Makassar.
The result makes Borneo increase their points to 37 and qualify for the top position in the standings. Persija, which is two points behind, is in second place, one point ahead of Persib Bandung in third place.
Persija will then undergo an away match against Persib Bandung in the 17th week. The clash will be held on January 11.
