The Time to Prevent Yaqut Cholil and Maktour's Boss Will End, the KPK is Asked to Immediately Determine the Status of the Suspect

JAKARTA - There is one month left for the time of prevention of the former Minister of Religion, Yaqut Cholil Qoumas to go abroad, the 2023-2024 Hajj quota case ends. The KPK is reminded to immediately determine the suspects.

This was conveyed by Criminal Law Expert from Bung Karno University, Hudi Yusuf to reporters through his written message, Saturday, January 3.

Apart from Yaqut, the parties who were prevented included former Special Staff to the Minister of Religion, Ishfah Abidal Aziz (IAA) alias Gus Alex, as well as the Boss of Maktour Travel, Fuad Hasan Masyhur. The KPK was asked to be more diligent and active so that there was no delay in the determination of suspects against the parties who were prevented.

"The period of determination will soon end, it should not be that when the period of determination ends the KPK has not been able to determine the suspect. Therefore, I hope the KPK will work more actively," said Hudi.

Hudi said that if the KPK had not named a suspect, there was a fear of evidence being removed. This is because there is free time open for those involved to plan and strategize.

"The longer it is processed, the greater the opportunity for the person concerned to devise strategies, such as eliminating evidence and others," said Hudi.

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has ensured that the investigation into the alleged corruption case of the 2023-2024 Hajj quota distribution at the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) will be completed soon. The spokesman for the anti-corruption agency, Budi Prasetyo, seemed to give a 'signal' to make former Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas (YCQ) and owner of Maktour Travel, Fuad Hasan Masyhur (FHM), as suspects.

"The KPK believes that the investigation by investigators will soon be completed," said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo when contacted by reporters.

Budi explained that the KPK investigators are currently waiting for evidence of state losses from the Financial Supervisory Board (BPK) as the basis for determining the suspects. The period of prevention abroad for former Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas (YCQ) and owner of Maktour Travel, Fuad Hasan Masyhur (FHM) ends on February 11, 2026.
