There is a Terror Action to Influencers and Academics, Observers: It Must Be Investigated in Depth and Find Out Who the Perpetrator is
JAKARTA - Political communication observer at Esa Unggul University, Jamiluddin Ritonga, assessed that the acts of terror that have occurred again to a number of academics, activists, content creators, and influencers (influencers) in various forms must be condemned and investigated thoroughly. Because according to him, Indonesia which adheres to democracy should not tolerate terror.
"The perpetrators of terror, including the mastermind, are definitely anti-critical figures. Figures like this are only suitable for living in authoritarian countries. Therefore, people who like to terrorize because of differences of opinion are not suitable for living in democratic countries, such as Indonesia," said Jamiluddin in Jakarta, Saturday, January 3.
"For them, the truth is obtained through power or power, not through discussion or dialogue," he continued.
Jamiluddin assessed that the anti-critical figure would continue to commit terror, even though the political system has changed in Indonesia. For them, according to him, democracy is only a shield, not a substance that must be carried out.
"So, for them, halal terror is used, even though it is against the principles of democracy. They do not care that terrorist behavior violates the right to life and the right to personal security, which is a basic right in democracy," he said.
"For them, terror is an efficient and effective action to silence opinions, including efforts to standardize opinions," he added.
For this reason, Jamiluddin emphasized, the government in a democratic country must protect its people from all forms of threats, including terror. The government, he said, must guarantee the rights of every individual, including the right to express and express themselves.
"The government must not allow its people to be shackled in fear during and after expressing their opinions and expressing themselves. The government must guarantee the right of every individual to express their opinions and express themselves, including participating in the political process," he said.
Jamiluddin said the democratic system should provide a mechanism for dialogue and judicial processes to resolve differences of opinion. He emphasized that all citizens, including the government, must be subject to laws that are made fairly, not to tolerate violence and coercion in the community.
"Therefore, the security apparatus is asked or must thoroughly investigate the perpetrators of terror. The security apparatus must not allow them to commit terror against parties who do not agree with them," said Jamiluddin.
Jamiluddin assessed that all the people of the country must unite against the perpetrators of terror. The terrorist, he said, must not be allowed to do his deeds which are not in line with the understanding of democracy.
"Even if the people want democracy to continue to flourish in the beloved country," he concluded.
Previously, a number of influencers were sent terror in the form of threatening letters, chicken carcasses, to molotov bombs. For example, Sherly Annavita whose car was scribbled, and Chiki Fawzi who received digital threats accompanied by pictures of pig heads.
The threat came after they published content criticizing the government's handling of the Sumatra flood and landslide disaster.
Then DJ Donny was also sent a chicken carcass with a severed head, and a threatening letter that mentioned his activities on social media. Two days later, a molotov bomb was thrown in front of his house.
"This case cannot be left, the culprit must be found. So that the public, his mind is not wandering everywhere," said DJ Donny.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Indonesian Government Communication Agency, Angga Raka Prabowo, said the government firmly rejected and condemned all forms of intimidation.
