IKN Authority Invites the Public to Plant Trees to Create a Forest City
PENAJAM PASER UTARA - The Nusantara Capital Authority (IKN) invites the public to plant trees in the IKN area to realize the future capital of Indonesia as a forest city.
"Tree planting activities will continue to be encouraged," said Head of the IKN Authority (OIKN) Basuki Hadimuljono when asked about greening the IKN in Sepaku, North Penajam Paser, Saturday, quoted from ANTARA, Saturday, January 3.
"Planting trees is part of a collective movement to make IKN a living, growing, and inherited forest city for future generations," he added.
The activity of planting trees in the IKN which was built in part of the North Penajam Paser Regency and Kutai Kartanegara Regency, East Kalimantan (Kaltim) Province, he continued, is expected to become the identity and culture of the IKN community, so that the IKN not only presents a modern and inclusive city, but also sustainable, cool, and harmonious with nature.
At least 100 trees consisting of 13 types of plants, including fruit trees and wood trees, were selected to enrich biodiversity, as well as strengthen the green ecosystem in the IKN core area.
"Planting trees must be part of the culture of life of the IKN community," said Basuki Hadimuljono.
OIKN is committed to cultivating life and making IKN a forest city, through tree planting activities with the community which is a symbol of the attachment between the community and the living space that is growing in IKN.
A total of 142 people who registered through the online registration process, together with the IKN Authority, planted trees in the Green Open Space (RTH) Plaza Yudikatif in the IKN Government Center Core Area (KIPP).
The participants in the tree planting came from Balikpapan, Samarinda, to outside the island of Kalimantan such as Palembang, Medan, and other areas.
"We have a hobby of planting trees and are interested in environmental activities, so we want to be involved in tree planting activities at IKN," explained Edi Busrah, one of the residents who applied online as a participant in the tree planting activity at IKN.
A number of other residents admitted to registering as participants in the tree planting activity because they were motivated by the desire to contribute directly to the development of the IKN green.
