RPI Optimistic that the National Police Chief Sigit Will Bring a Transformation of the National Police Culture in 2026

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Political House (RPI) expressed its optimism that the National Police of the Republic of Indonesia (Polri) under the leadership of the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo will undergo a significant fundamental change throughout 2026. RPI believes that General Listyo Sigit will realize a significant cultural transformation in the body of the National Police in 2026 by looking at the success of the National Police Chief in escorting the Prabowo-Gibran government in 2025.

"We believe that the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo will bring significant fundamental changes in the National Police throughout 2026. This optimism is not without basis. The era of the Prabowo-Gibran government brings a fresh wind for institutional reform of law enforcement, with the National Police positioned as the backbone of the enforcement of the rule of law," said Executive Director of the Indonesian Political House, Fernando Emas in his statement, Saturday, January 3.

Fernando Emas revealed that this momentum is a golden opportunity to realize a comprehensive cultural transformation, not only in operational aspects but also in building the character and integrity of the Polri personnel. According to him, the Polri cultural transformation that was launched reflects the urgent need to respond to the challenges of the times.

"The Indonesian people now demand a police force that is not only firm in enforcing the law, but also humane, transparent, and accountable in every action. This hope is in line with the vision of the Prabowo-Gibran government which emphasizes clean, professional, and people-oriented governance," he explained.

As a think tank that focuses on political analysis and public policy, said Fernando Emas, the Indonesian Political House provides a strategic view that the success of the transformation of the National Police will have a wide impact on national stability. The reformed National Police, he said, will be a strong foundation for fair law enforcement, protection of human rights, and the creation of a sense of security in the community.

"This transformation is also expected to change the public perception of the police institution, from merely law enforcement to a partner of the community in building a better nation civilization. In the context of the Prabowo-Gibran government which emphasizes sustainable development, sovereignty, and people's welfare, the role of the National Police is very strategic," he said.

Furthermore, Fernando Gold hopes that the National Police will be able to maintain security stability which is a prerequisite for the wheels of economic and social development to run. This stability, he said, does not only mean the absence of conflicts or riots, but also the creation of a safe and comfortable atmosphere for all citizens to carry out activities, strive, and develop their potential without fear or threat.

"The transformation of the National Police is not only about changing structures or procedures, but about fundamental changes in the way we understand the role of the police in a democratic society, as protectors, servants, and partners of the community in building a better civilization," said Fernando Emas.

He also admitted that he was optimistic that the National Police in the era of the Prabowo-Gibran government was believed to be able to support democratic and just legal governance. This means that the National Police must be the vanguard in ensuring that the law is enforced without discrimination, that every citizen has equal access to justice, and that human rights are respected in every law enforcement process.

"Success in this matter will strengthen public confidence in the police institution, which in turn will make it easier for the National Police to carry out its duties and functions because it has the full support of the community," concluded Fernando Emas.
