JAKARTA - Perum Bulog is preparing an additional warehouse with a capacity of two million tons to absorb rice harvests in early 2026, to ensure the availability of safe storage space during the harvest.
Director of Perum Bulog Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani conveyed the readiness of the temporary warehouse as a quick solution to face the peak of the February to April harvest, while waiting for the construction of a new warehouse facility.
"We have prepared a temporary warehouse for additional. The additional warehouse is planned to be two million tons of stock to be able to welcome the arrival of the harvest in February, March and April," said Rizal at a press conference titled Bulog's Crucial Achievement 2025 and Strategic Steps 2026, in Jakarta, quoted by Antara, Saturday, January 3.
The additional warehouse is designed to accommodate two million tons, with a focus on absorbing grain during the harvest season, so that farmers are not worried about sales and quality are maintained through a measured national modern logistics management system.
Rizal admitted that his party had checked and ensured the readiness of the warehouse with a capacity of around 942 thousand tons to receive the harvest with the storage safety standards that had been set by the food SOE.
"We have prepared a warehouse with a capacity of two million tons. Well, to this day, the total that has been checked and is okay is (the capacity of the warehouse) 942,000 tons," he said.
In addition, the potential for additional warehouses with a capacity of around 600 thousand tons has been confirmed, so that the total capacity of warehouse readiness reaches around 1.5 million tons to welcome the February harvest, until April 2026.
The preparation of the warehouse is carried out simultaneously with the plan to build 100 new warehouses targeted by the government, in order to strengthen the storage capacity, as well as maintain the stability of the supply of food prices.
With this step, Bulog confirms its readiness to absorb the harvest to the maximum, maintain the quality of the grain, and ensure that all the results enter the warehouse in good condition and are safe in strengthening the government's rice reserve stock (CBP).
Even so, Rizal did not mention how many of the additional warehouses that were prepared, including the location or area of the warehouse. Only he emphasized that the capacity prepared reached 2 million tons.
The CBP stock at the beginning of this year reached 3.2 million tons more. The stock is rice that shifts from 2025 to 2026 which is currently stored safely in the warehouses of the food SOEs.
It is known that the government targets the absorption of rice equivalent by Perum Bulog in 2026 to reach 4 million tons.
