Allegedly There is a Work Negligence that Triggers Landslides in Jatinangor

Sumedang - The Sumedang Police (Polres) in West Java, are investigating allegations of negligence of work in a landslide that killed four construction workers in Cisempur Village, Jatinangor District, Friday, January 2, 2026.

Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Sumedang Police, AKP Tanwin Nopiansah in Sumedang, Friday, said that the investigation process was focused on deepening the chronology of the incident and the connection between work activities at the location before the landslide occurred.

"Satreskrim of the Sumedang Police is investigating to find out whether there is an element of negligence in this incident or other factors. We will continue to conduct an in-depth investigation," he said.

He also explained that his party was conducting an examination of nine eyewitnesses who were at the scene of the incident.

He added that the nine witnesses consisted of a foreman, surviving employees and parties related to the project.

"So far, we have examined nine witnesses consisting of foremen, surviving workers, and parties that own the project," he explained.

Based on provisional information, the location of the landslide is planned to be used for the construction of a mini soccer field facility.

Regarding the possibility of applying criminal sanctions or other forms of accountability, the police stated that they were still waiting for the results of a thorough investigation.

"For sanctions or punishment, we are currently still in the investigation stage. We will convey the results and follow-up of the process on the next occasion," said Tanwin.

His party also emphasized that it would complete the investigation of the landslide case thoroughly to ensure the cause of the incident and the parties responsible.
