The Most Popular Joglosemarkerto Train During the 2025/2026 Nataru Transportation
JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI recorded the Joglosemarkerto train as the most popular train for the public during the Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 (Nataru) holiday transportation period.
The high customer interest is evident from the consistent occupancy rate throughout the period from December 18, 2025 to January 4, 2026.
Based on booking data, KA 187 Joglosemarkerto Solo Balapan-Semarang Tawang relationship was booked by 38,989 customers. Meanwhile, KA 193 Joglosemarkerto Solo Balapan-Solo Balapan relationship was recorded as booked by 33,689 customers.
"This achievement makes the Joglosemarkerto train as the main choice for people to move between cities in the Central Java region and its surroundings during the year-end holidays," said Anne Purba, Vice President of Corporate Communication at KAI, in an official statement, Friday, January 2.
Anne said the high customer enthusiasm was inseparable from the quality of service and the comfort of the facilities provided on the Joglosemarkerto train. Where, the entire train series uses a New Generation train resulting from the modification of the Manggarai Yasa Hall.
"Which presents a modern interior, ergonomic chairs, comfortable lighting, and a cabin atmosphere that supports medium-distance travel during the long holiday period," he said.
During the Nataru period, the existence of the Joglosemarkerto train also contributed to maintaining the smooth movement of people in the Solo, Yogyakarta, Semarang, and surrounding cities.
The high mobility of customers also has an impact on increasing tourism activities and regional economic circulation, including the continued transportation sector, culinary, lodging, to MSMEs around the station.
Nationally, KAI recorded the sale of 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year tickets for the period from December 18, 2025 to January 4, 2026 reaching 3,976,142 tickets as of Friday, January 2, 2026 at 08.00 WIB. This figure increased by 6.58 percent compared to the 2024/2025 Nataru period which recorded 3,730,584 tickets.
Of the total sales, long-distance train tickets were recorded as many as 3,253,432 tickets or 117.8 percent of the capacity of 2,761,048 seats. Meanwhile, the sale of local train tickets reached 722,710 tickets or 97.0 percent of the total capacity of 745,056 seats.
"The level of occupancy above 100 percent on long-distance trains is influenced by the dynamic travel patterns of customers, with passengers going up and down at various stations along the track," he said.
Meanwhile, the favorite stations during the 2025/2026 Nataru period include Pasarsenen, Yogyakarta, Gambir, Semarang Tawang, Bandung, Surabaya Pasar Turi, and Surabaya Gubeng.
In the same period, KAI also provided a 30 percent discount on the commercial economy train fare which is valid from December 22, 2025 to January 10, 2026, with a total of 1,509,080 seats prepared.
"As of January 2, 2026, discounted tickets have been sold for 1,412,280 tickets or about 94 percent of the available capacity," concluded Anne.
