JAKARTA - A construction accident in Cisempur Village, Jatinangor, Sumedang, West Java, caused a landslide, Friday, January 2, 2026. As a result of the incident, 4 workers were buried.
The joint Search and Rescue (SAR) team is searching for a number of victims buried in a landslide. Head of Operations and Standby Section at the Bandung National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) Muhammad Adip said that the landslide was a construction accident.
"The chronology of the incident began when construction activities resulted in a total of eight employees, six of whom were buried by landslides," said Muhammad Adip.
Adip also explained that the evacuation process is still ongoing, considering that some of the victims are still buried by landslide material, while the joint SAR team is gradually evacuating the victims who have been successfully found at the scene.
He added that the three victims who were construction workers were declared dead in the incident and three others were still in the search process.
"The material is still buried, while the other three people have been successfully evacuated. Further developments will continue to be periodically conveyed," he said.
Basarnas emphasized that the search and evacuation process was carried out by prioritizing the safety of all personnel in the field.
"The SAR operation command is under Basarnas, so the entire evacuation process prioritizes safety factors. If weather conditions do not allow, operations will be temporarily stopped. However, for now, the team is still continuing the evacuation efforts until it is completed," he explained.
The weather conditions in the Jatinangor area were observed to be cloudy and had been hit by rain, so the evacuation process was carried out carefully by the joint SAR team.
A number of elements involved in handling the scene include Basarnas, Sumedang Police, Military Rayon Command (Koramil), Camat, Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), and residents around.
