PMI Breast Cancer Patients in Malaysia Have Been Returned to Yogyakarta
JAKARTA - The Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) Johor Bahru accompanied the repatriation of an Indonesian migrant worker (PMI) Wulandari (40), a resident of Bantul, Yogyakarta, who suffered from cancer. The repatriation was carried out on Friday, January 2, 2026.
The KJRI Johor Bahru stated that Wulandari suffered from stage 4 breast cancer and suffered a broken femur after falling at work.
Considering the urgent health condition, the KJRI Johor Bahru provided assistance so that Wulandari could immediately receive further medical treatment in the country.
The repatriation process was carried out by sea from Stulang Laut Port, Johor to Batam Center Port, Riau Islands, and continued with a flight to Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA).
During the journey, the PMI was directly accompanied by the staff of the Indonesian Consulate General in Johor Bahru to ensure the safety and safety until they arrived at home.
This repatriation effort is a manifestation of the state's responsibility in providing protection to Indonesian Migrant Workers in accordance with the mandate of Law No. 18 of 2017.
In its implementation, the KJRI Johor Bahru works closely with various related agencies at the central and regional levels, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections, the Ministry of P2MI, and the DIY Provincial Government, to ensure integrated handling until the PMI is accepted by the family and receives adequate treatment.
