The Goal Of Mayor Eri Cahyadi Is That Surabaya Residents Have An Income Of IDR 7 Million Per Month

SURABAYA - The Mayor of Surabaya, Eri Cahyadi, has big goals on May 31, when the city of Surabaya is entering its 728th year. Eri Cahyadi wants his citizens to have jobs, both in companies and through Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).

"I always say, the people of Surabaya must have all jobs. Is it a job that goes through UMKM or is it a contract with a company," said Eri, in Surabaya, Friday, May 28.

Not only that, Eri Cahyadi also wants all the income of his citizens to reach the minimum UMK (Regency / City Minimum Wage), or in each KK (Family Card) the income accumulates Rp. 7 million.

To achieve this expectation, Eri Cahyadi is preparing a strategy as a form of intervention for residents whose income is still below the UMK. However, in order for the provision of this intervention to be right on target, the Surabaya City Government is currently completing an update on data on Low-Income Communities (MBR).

The MBR data will later be used as a reference by the city government to provide intervention to residents whose income is still below the UMK. Mayor Eri targets that the MBR data collection which is carried out through sub-districts and sub-districts can be completed on June 4, 2021.

"God willing, when June 4, 2021 (data collection) is completed, we will know how much is below Rp. 4 million (UMK). Well, that will be what we will then touch (intervention)," said Eri Cahyadi.

According to him, later the intervention given by the municipal government could be in the form of MSME training, provision of land for aquaculture ponds and other types of work. "For example, we touch (intervention) with MSMEs, (training) make shoes, some will make cakes, some we touch with work," he said.

Not only providing intervention in the form of MSME training. However, Mayor Eri stated that the Surabaya City Government is also ready to help MSME players to promote and sell their business products. "So what we expect is a minimum UMK or Rp. 7 million per family income per family," he said.

Not only that, Eri Cahyadi admitted that he was preparing unused land belonging to the municipal government for intervention with other Surabaya residents. This intervention takes the form of providing pond land for fish or shrimp cultivation. Later, the residents who are classified as MBR will be given seeds along with training to cultivation assistance.

"We will collect how many people we give the seeds, we will give training for shrimp pond cultivation. The results will be taken by them and the training from the Surabaya City Government," he said.
