Two Perpetrators of Robbing a Trader in Duren Sawit Arrested by the Police
JAKARTA - Head of Public Relations of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto, said two men suspected of being perpetrators of the beating and persecution of kukusan traders in Duren Sawit, East Jakarta have been secured by the police during a joint operation.
"The police arrested two men suspected of beating and abusing a kukusan trader in Duren Sawit, East Jakarta, on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, after the identity of the perpetrators was revealed," he said in a statement, Thursday, December 1, 2025,
Budi explained that the incident initially occurred on Thursday, December 25, 2025 at around 07.00 WIB. At that time, the victim SR was selling when two men approached asking for security money and rent. However, the victim did not give because he had not received the money.
"The victim was just selling and was not able to give money, the two perpetrators were angry and committed a beating," he explained.
Budi revealed that due to the incident, the victim then reported to the Duren Sawit Police. Thus, the police conducted an investigation until they identified the two suspected perpetrators, S alias A and S alias H.
"The perpetrator H was arrested at the BKT Cipinang Indah Bridge, while A was secured at Mustika Jaya, Bekasi," he said. In addition to arresting the two perpetrators, the police also seized evidence of a machete.
To be held accountable for their actions, the two perpetrators were charged with Article 170 of the Criminal Code concerning extortion in conjunction with Article 351 of the Criminal Code concerning persecution.
In addition, Budi emphasized that his party would not tolerate gangsterism and violence, especially against small traders.
"We will take firm action against any form of intimidation and violence in accordance with the law," he said. Budi also urged residents to immediately report through the 110 emergency service which is active 24 hours.
"The National Police ensures that every report from the public will be followed up quickly and professionally," he concluded.
