SAR Team Finds a Victim of Drowning Dead in Batanghari River

JAKARTA - After searching for two days, the joint SAR team finally managed to find a victim who drowned in the Batanghari River in a dead state.

Head of Basarnas Jambi Adah Sudarsa in his official statement received in Jambi, Thursday, the victim in the name of Sodikin (46) was found dead in the Batanghari River, specifically in Pelepat Village, Bungo Regency.

The search for the victim Sodikin who was swept away by the current in the Batang Pelepat River yielded results on the second day of the search. The victim, who is a resident of Maju Jaya Village, was found dead on Thursday (1/1).

The victim's body was found by the joint SAR team at around 11:30 WIB, about 10 kilometers from the initial incident location and after the victim was evacuated, the SAR team immediately took him to be handed over to the family.

Adah Sudarsa explained that the search was carried out by combing the river flow up to a radius of 15 kilometers downstream. In addition to combing the water, the team also deployed thermal drone technology to monitor the river area from the air.

He said that this SAR operation was the result of hard work from various elements involved, including personnel from the Bungo SAR Post, TNI, Polri, Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), PMI Bungo, as well as active assistance from the local community.

The weather conditions at the location during the search were observed to be cloudy, he continued, which was quite supportive of the team's mobility in the field.

With the discovery of the victim, he said, the search and rescue operation (SAR Ops) for one person swept away by the current in the Batang Pelepat River was officially closed and all elements involved had returned to their respective units.
