Commission III asks the police to take action against the Ormas vigilante who protested in Mie Gacoan Surabaya

Member of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Abdullah, strongly condemned the actions of a group of people who represented community organizations (Ormas) who demonstrated and protested against the digital parking policy at the Mie Gacoan Restaurant, Surabaya, East Java.

Abdullah considered the group's actions as a form of gangsterism that cannot be justified. According to him, there is no right for any Ormas or group to prohibit entrepreneurs from implementing internal policies, including digital parking management.

"What the group that claims to be an Ormas does is a form of gangsterism. They have no right to prohibit restaurants from implementing digital parking," Abdullah told reporters, Thursday, January 1.

Abdullah emphasized that restaurant entrepreneurs have the full right to regulate the parking system in their business areas independently, as long as they do not violate applicable laws and regulations.

"Entrepreneurs have the right to manage their businesses, including parking. There should be no pressure or intimidation from any party," he said.

Abdullah also asked the police to act firmly against the practice of gangsterism that hides behind the name of an NGO. He reminded that allowing this kind of action could have a serious impact on the business and investment climate.

"If left unchecked, this kind of action by NGOs will disrupt the business climate. They feel powerful, even as if they are more powerful than the state. This must not be allowed," he said.

Abdullah emphasized that the state must not be defeated by groups that use intimidating methods for certain economic interests.

"Ormas that act outside the law and disturb entrepreneurs must be disciplined. The state must be present and provide a sense of security for business actors," he concluded.

As reported, the simultaneous implementation of the digital parking system at 11 points of Mie Gacoan outlets in Surabaya, on Thursday, December 26, received rejection from organizations that have been involved in conventional parking management.
