Fireworks Festival to enliven New Year in Sarinah Thamrin area

JAKARTA - The fireworks festival finally broke out in the TL Sarinah Thamrin area at the New Year's Eve on Thursday, January 1, 2026, in the early hours.

From VOI's monitoring at the location, the fireworks party was installed by a number of people who deliberately came to the area.

The reason is that previously the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government had issued a warning prohibiting fireworks in DKI Jakarta on New Year's Eve.

However, it seems that the ban did not discourage people from immersing themselves in the euphoria of the New Year's Eve.

The shouts of the people broke out simultaneously along with the explosion and the bursting of fireworks.

The thin smoke that came out of the fireworks explosion was also dissolved by the thin drizzle that wet the area.

"Finally, I can still see the fireworks," shouted a visitor in the Sarinah area, Thamrin.

Previously, the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Pramono Anung issued a Circular Letter (SE) which prohibited fireworks on New Year's Eve 2026.

This policy applies to all activities that require permits, both government and private.
